Watch: Dhoni rightly furious during Jofra Archer’s bowling

MS Dhoni is known world over for his composure. But one cannot resist but notice the change in Dhoni’s body language in the recent times. He is a lot more expressive and also critical of his team.

Probably, one reason is that he has been playing well this year and leading by example. He has thus got himself to a place that he can now afford to be blunt.

In the fixture against RR, the pitch at Jaipur was a slow one. The ball was keeping up and down and run scoring was difficult. Ambati Rayudu had a rare failure as he got out early. Suresh Raina then paired up with Shane Watson to come up with a good T20 knock. He scored an explosive half century and set the stage for CSK with a breezy partnership along with Shane Watson.

Once Watson and Raina got out, it was up to Dhoni and Billings to take Chennai to a respectable total. While Billings struggled at one end, Dhoni though it through and was dealing in quick doubles.

He gauged that it would not be easy to hit every ball out of the ground on a slow pitch and hence tried to control the tempo of the game. It was only in the last three overs that Billings and Dhoni cut loose in an attempt to hit the ball over the boundary.

The 19th over was to be bowled by Jofra Archer. The Barbadian tried to mix it up with bouncers, slower ones and yorkers. On the fourth delivery, Archer banged it in short as Dhoni let the ball go to the keeper. MS was confident of it being a wide ball but Umpire Marais Erasmus thought otherwise and signaled one for the over.

Dhoni looked visibly disappointed and inquired the Umpire to grant him a wide but the former did not budge. As a result, CSK could only manage 176 runs in their 20 overs which ultimately did not prove enough.
