IPL 2018: Preity Zinta gives clarification over remarks on Mumbai Indians
KXIP threw away their chance to qualify for the play-off after Delhi Daredevils beat Mumbai Indians.
This year’s IPL has been one of the closest in the tournament’s history. Three teams were in the contention for the play-offs berth as the final day of the season rolled-out. The teams not only needed to win their own games, but also required favour from other teams as well. Kings XI Punjab’s story was no different.
Entering into the final game of the season, Kings XI had already received a boost when Royal Challengers Bangalore succumbed to a poor batting performance a day before. On the final day, the luck favoured them again as Delhi Daredevils beat Mumbai Indians, leaving their fate on their own hands. However, KXIP couldn’t utilize their chance and lost to Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets, finishing a disappointing 7th in the IPL table.
During the match, a video of Preity Zinta was posted online. In the video, Zinta expressed her happiness over Delhi Daredevils beating the defending IPL champions in a nail-biting thriller.
One of the fan pointed out the same on Twitter, posting the video. He wrote, “Mam @realpreityzinta did you really said “I am just very happy that Mumbai is not going to the finals? #CSKvKXIP,” in the tweet.

This led to Preity Zinta receiving severe criticism from the Mumbai Indians fans, who had to endure a painful exit from the IPL.
However, Preity Zinta later took to Twitter to clarify her actions.
Relax ! Only if Mumbai was “Knocked Out” Punjab would have had a chance of getting to the play offs but RR was happier we were Knocked out by CSK cuz they got to go to the playoffs ! When you leave it till the end one has to not just see your wins but other teams losses as well. https://t.co/WKSdNRJ08B
