“White Families Are Busy Counting Their Money”: $25 Million Worth Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, On Why There’s Been No White American NBA Star Since 90s
There aren’t any great White-American players in the NBA. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar says it’s because they are busy counting money.
Historically, the NBA has been dominated by members of the African-American community. The likes of Bill Russel, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and of course Kareem Abdul-Jabbar come to mind.
Abdul-Jabbar or Lew Alcindor as he once referred to is a particularly fascinating player. Primarily because he was not only a good basketball player but a great activist as well.
Kareem is known to have strong opinions on race. So, when he was asked why there are no great White-American basketball players in the league anymore, he had an interesting response.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar believes there are no great White-American players in the NBA because white families are too busy counting their money
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is perhaps one of the greatest players of all time. The man currently holds the scoring record, and has six NBA championships, multiple MVP awards, and more.
Jabbar was also a very opinionated individual, being an activist he was never scared of sharing his opinions. As was the case when he shared his thoughts on why there aren’t any great White-American player in the modern NBA.
Abdul-Jabbar is close to losing his title of the NBA’s all-time leading scorer to LeBron James
As things stand, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the current all-time leading scorer in NBA history. With 38,387 points, for many years it seemed as though Kareem would never be surpassed. However, in just a few games, LeBron James will take over as the best scorer in the league.
Two NBA legends.

The King is a mere 828 points away from the record. Safe to say it will be a huge moment, both for the record breaker and the record holder.
