Charles Leclerc Once Misunderstood Fans Rooting for Him As Sergio Perez’s Fans
Charles Leclerc is the top Ferrari driver, and obviously, he’ll attract a massive set of fans into the fold. Probably after Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, he enjoys the biggest fanbase among the active F1 drivers.
The Monegasque race driver is hailed as the biggest prospect Ferrari has ever produced. So, there is no surprise that the team with the biggest motorsport fanbase in the world would be rooting for him constantly.
And he doesn’t disappoint them either with his impressive performances since his Ferrari debut. He is their biggest card to win the drivers’ championship. Though, in 2022, he couldn’t uproot Max Verstappen’s dominance but had a satisfactory runner-up result in the standings.

Charles Leclerc misunderstands his fans
Ahead of the last race of the season. Leclerc and Sergio Perez were pitted to fight for the runner-up spot in the standings. But during one of his media interactions, some fans said, “Vamos Leclerc”.
However, the Ferrari driver misheard it as “Vamos Checo”. He didn’t stop repeating those two words and said Vamos Checo with a smile. But fans on Twitter ended up drooling over the innocence of the 25-year-old race driver.

In the end, Leclerc had the upper hand during the last night of the season. But a marginal win, as Perez was only a second behind him to displace him from his season’s result.
Eyeing the 2023 glory
Ferrari had a good car for the 2022 season. But multiple reasons got them a sharp decline in the season. The majority of it had to be solved by the engineering department. And Ferrari claims to be doing that ahead of the new season.
If going by their word, Leclerc, who is likely to spearhead the Ferrari campaign, could have another shot at the title. But he definitely would need to give a consistent challenge to Max Verstappen, who absolutely obliterated every challenge that came his way.
On the other hand, Mercedes also wants to return to their championship challenge days after the 2022 slump. Thus, a three-way challenge amongst the F1 powerhouses would only entertain the fans immensely.
