Eric Boullier resigns as McLaren racing director

McLaren’s season hasn’t quite ticked the way they wanted to, and with so much not going according to plan on and off the race track, they have decided to go in with some mid-season restructuring.

Eric Boullier, the McLaren racing director has resigned, due to immense pressure form all corners.

Boullier’s resignation comes just a few days ahead of their home grand prix at Silverstone.

Boullier has wished the entire McLaren team well for the remainder of the season.

“I am very proud to have worked with such a brilliant team over the past four years, but I recognise now is the right time for me to step down,” said Boullier.

“I want to wish everyone at McLaren the best for the remainder of the season and for the future.” he added.

A technical leadership team has been put in place to replace Boullier, one that will have Gil de Ferran at the apex.

McLaren COO,  Simon Roberts is now in charge of production, engineering and logistics. Performance director Andrew Stella has now been made in charge of trackside operations.

McLaren CEO, Zak Brown has released a statement saying that change was necessary, especially after a disappointing start to the 2018 season.

The performance of the MCL33 in 2018 has not met the expectations of anyone at McLaren, especially our loyal fans,” said Brown.

“This is not the fault of the hundreds of committed and hard-working men and women at McLaren.

“With today’s announcement, we start to address those issues head on and take the first step on our road to recovery.

“I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the entire team to thank Eric for his service and contribution to McLaren and wish him well in his future endeavours.” Brown said.

What next for McLaren?
