Manchester United set to bid for Leonardo Bonucci
Leonardo Bonucci is long linked with a move to Manchester United.
Manchester United are looking to add defensive cover to their team and have identified a host of players who could fill the gap. A few days after news that the Red Devils had reignited their interest in Toby Alderweireld, they have also been credited with news of signing Bonucci.
Jose Mourinho on top of that could get the Italian defender at a very nominal cost taking advantage of AC Milan’s need to grow cash.
Leonardo Bonucci was bought into the San Siro last season after a fantastic season with Juventus that included a domestic double and Champions League runners-up position.
The 7 time European champions bought the 31 year old on the back of a 150 million spending spree hoping that they could once again grow big in the sport. However, that has done no good and put the Milan outfit in a debt of 28 million before investors Elliott Management took over the club from its Chinese owners.
Gennaro Gattuso is ready to part company with the centre back also keeping in mind that the club needs to raise money soon. AC Milan need to raise 45 million pounds before the end of the transfer window, meaning that Bonucci’s sale could help them in recovering an amount worth two-thirds of their actual due.
On the other hand, the Old Trafford outfit is tipped for a huge bargain keeping in mind that Bonucci still has a great deal of football left in him. A deal is expected within the next two to three weeks.
