Lewis Hamilton releases social media post after contract extension
Lewis Hamilton has signed a two year contract extension with Mercedes, one that will keep him with the team until 2020.
The contract details haven’t been officially released, but multiple sources say that the contract would be worth $170 million, making it the biggest F1 deal ever.
Lewis Hamilton has been a revelation for Mercedes for so long now, helping them carve a ‘dynasty’ for themselves in the last 4 years.
He looks pretty determined this year as well and is in contention for his 5th World title.
Hamilton was pretty emotional after the contract was signed and came up with a wonderful social media post to acknowledge his relationship with the Mercedes family, one that had been established in 1998 and has been going strong up until now.
He admitted that he was excited for the future and is gearing up for the remainder of the season.
“I have been in the Mercedes Family since 1998. I am forever grateful for their continued support, love and protection over these years. I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and even more excited for the future!” Hamilton tweeted.

Now, while Hamilton’s contract has been sealed and delivered, there has been no announcement made about Bottas’ future, something that would be making the Finn’s fans very itchy.
Hopefully all the background work has been done, or are Mercedes planning a Ricciardo swoop?
