Virat Kohli on Kerala floods: Captain dedicates India’s victory to flood victims
Virat Kohli on Kerala floods: After a thumping 203 run win over England, Virat Kohli dedicated India’s victory to flood victims.
India defeated England in the third test by 203 runs to stay alive in the series. Virat Kohli stood out again with the bat, scoring 97 and 103 in first and second innings respectively, as Pujara and Rahane, the two major Indian batsman also made significant contributions in India’s victory.
With the bowl, Jasprit Bumrah shined on his comeback match after spending a month on the sidelines owing to finger injury. The India speedster suffered the injury during India’s T20I series against Ireland and was ruled out for the limited-overs series against England, as well as the first two tests of the ongoing series.
The win came on the back of a crushing innings defeat at Lord’s, where India failed to reach 200 in both the innings.
Shikhar Dhawan was called back into the side after facing the drop for the second test, and showed signs of improvement as India’s opening pair scored 60 on both the innings. Cheteshwar Pujara also showed immense composure and grit for his 72 runs in the second innings, while Ajinkya Rahane scored a solid 81, which was central to India’s 329.

“We would like to dedicate this victory to the flood victims in Kerala. They’ve been going through a lot of late,” Kohli said.
“This is our bit we can do from the Indian cricket team,” the Indian captain added.
Everyone in Kerala, please be safe and stay indoors as much as you can. Hope the situation recovers soon. Also, thanking the Indian army and NDRF for their incredible support in this critical condition. Stay strong and stay safe.
