“Hard to see James Harden Wanting to Come Back”: ESPN Uncovers Discord Between the Beard and HC Doc Rivers Following Playoff Exit
James Harden’s first postseason with the Philadelphia 76ers, much like many others, was nothing to write home about. Joel Embiid failed to step up when it mattered most. And while James Harden had a 45-point outing in Game 1, things never got quite as good after that. Still, the one who will arguably take the most flack is Doc Rivers. And it isn’t any better that apparently James Harden is already sick of him.
Doc Rivers has won one championship with the Celtics as a head coach, and of course, he is known for making sure a mediocre Clippers side overachieved season after season. However, after being given championship caliber squad for the last few years, he has still yet to even reach the NBA finals. And because of that, there are now major problems within the 76ers organization.
James Harden wants Doc Rivers gone, as per ESPN
James Harden has never quite been known as a coach killer. However, after Steve Nash, and now his alleged opinion on Doc Rivers, that may change very quickly. Especially given what kind of behavior his desperation for a ring is bringing about.
Not only does he want Doc Rivers gone, but as per ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, he is also pressuring the 76ers’ organization with his own departure to make sure he gets what he wants. Take a look at the Twitter post by NBA Retweet below.
The Sixers decision to fire or keep Doc Rivers as head coach will influence James Harden’s future with the team, per @ramonashelburne

“From what I’m told, one person said to me it would be hard for me to see James (Harden) wanting to come back and play for Doc again.”
Quite frankly, on paper, this is still a roster that can achieve great things. However, James Harden is a big player. And if an athlete with his stature starts to revolt, it opens up a whole new can of worms. And oftentimes, that situation ends with the team trading/losing key players, and scrambling for pieces to replace what they lost. Are the Philadelphia 76ers headed in the same direction?
