“They Almost Committed Suicide”: American Sweetheart Daniel Ricciardo Charms 200 Fan Girls By Simply Existing

America has adopted Daniel Ricciardo as its very own. A man who can be classy on the MET steps while also pulling off his cowboy charm. And this has its effects on the fan girls as the driver elicited a wild response from them while walking around the Miami GP paddock.

Driver to Survive shot up Ricciardo to new levels of fame. His sweet personality and magnetic attitude brought in a lot of love for the driver right from when the series aired. Now, five seasons down, the fan base has only grown. Maybe a bit too much.

Ricciardo’s close friend and podcast icon Dax Shepherd recounted his experience at the Miami GP. A highlight for him was crossing the Hard Rock Stadium football field with Ricciardo.

The Aussie’s fame is brought to the spotlight as the podcaster narrated his story. “We were walking with him on the football field and at the very top nosebleed section there were about 200 women, and they were screaming so loud from the very top nosebleeds for Riccardo.”

Shepherd goes on to give Ricciardo a big compliment in the process. “It was like being with a Beatle. I thought one of the gals was going to fall down the edge.”

Eff Won Podcast co-host Charlie Curtis chimed in, “And he’s so far down. The fact that they could even recognize him. And they went wild.” Explaining the frenzy Ricciardo caused, Shepherd added, “Oh yeah, they almost committed suicide. They almost jumped off lovesick, just to have him break their fall.”

Looks can kill, then, especially in Ricciardo’s case. Soon becoming the poster boy of the sport, despite not having a seat, it looks like the fame is far from fizzling out anytime soon.

Ricciardo is Mr. Worldwide

The love and adoration aren’t restricted to America. At every track he makes an appearance, Ricciardo is welcomed with cheering and love. He recently opened up about his growing fanbase during his TV appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

“Australians and Americans are very similar. I feel like just very rowdy, fun, like let’s hang for a beer later.” On the flip side of the coin are the die-hard fans who’ve been around the sport long enough.

“But then you have, I think like the real fun one as well is Japan because you have complete both sides, where they’re the most intense and knowledgeable, like to a point where they’re close to being stalkers, but then they’re also so respectful and polite! So that’s a really interesting one as well.”

Looks like fans aren’t ready to let go of Ricciardo yet. With such an immense fan following on his shoulders, it would be a shame to witness the day Ricciardo is absent from the F1 paddock.
