Conducting a Test match just as the monsoon season in a country is getting down to business is nothing less than playing with fire. With such a setting being mostly followed by consequences, Bangladeshi cricketing fraternity could be in store to face the same in the form of inclement weather conditions at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, during a one-off Test match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan starting from tomorrow.
With clouds, thunder and showers all predicted in the city in the next 24 hours, the first day of the match could potentially be an eyewitness to a start-stop arrangement in case the forecast proves to be true.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, at a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” June 13’s morning bulletin of the MET office said as per UNB.

Speaking of June 14, first session of the match is highly likely to comprise uninterrupted couple of hours of live action. Furthermore, even the afternoon session has a rain probability of less than 30% according to reliable weather portal AccuWeather.
That being said, it is only after the tea break that the weather is most expected to force players back into their dressing rooms. It is around and after 04:00 PM (local time) that the rain probability will be at a highest of 49% as far as the playing hours are concerned.
Talking about the temperature, it will hover around mid-30s between 10:00 AM and 06:00 PM on a moderately humid day.
