IWC Plays Imposter to Rolex’s $4,000,000 Investment by Deploying George Russell With $11,700 Newly Released Asset
As per NS Business, Rolex, until 2022, paid $4,000,000 to Wimbledon to be the official timepiece of the prestigious Grand Slam tournament. The new update by the watch company declares that the agreement has been extended, but whether the price of the partnership has been inflated is not well reported. But most probably, it will be in this range. Seeing their rivals shedding so much money, IWC thought of just promoting themselves for free by sending one of their motorsport celebs George Russell with a newly released IWC watch that is worth $11,700.
The Mercedes superstar attended the quarter-final match between Carlos Alcaraz as he defeated Holger Rune within the first three sets. Russell was surely impressed by the Spaniard’s incredible performance while he was already rooting for the baby GOAT.

However, little did anyone know that while wanting to witness Alcaraz, Russell would help his team sponsors to be impostors at the center court. By appearing with the newly released watch, the 25-year-old somewhere endorsed them.
IWC promotes a new watch at Rolex’s den
Surely a big financial win by IWC over their rivals. And the Swiss brand is unapologetic about promoting Russell wearing their prized asset during the Wimbledon game. Riccardo Soliani Brivio, the associate director of corporate communication at IWC, posted about it on his Linkedin.
“Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 ™ team driver George Russell was spotted wearing the new IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 (Ref. IW328903) at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships,” wrote Brivio.
Well, this is not the first time IWC has subtly attracted people to its new watches through the Mercedes team. Recently, Lewis Hamilton was seen flexing a watch that was yet to be released.
How Lewis Hamilton piqued interest in a $40,900 Watch
Ahead of this year’s Miami Grand Prix, Hamilton was seen with a watch that was never seen before. Soon, it was revealed on social media that it was the new timepiece by IWC named Lake Tahoe.
The product being unreleased even piqued more interest of the fans. As per the Robb Report, it’s worth around $40,900. Even Hamilton seems to be in love with that watch, as he is regularly seen wearing that during F1 events.

The partnership between Mercedes and IWC is now more than 10 years old. Its alliance, parallel to the Silver Arrows’ success, has benefitted the Swiss brand immensely, and that’s why they are in one of the most prominent areas of the car.
