“He Is the Best That Has Ever Been”: Sebastian Vettel Claims Comparison Between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen Shouldn’t Exist
Max Verstappen’s prominence in the last three years has propelled some comparisons with Lewis Hamilton. However, for Sebastian Vettel, while talking to Martin Brundle in a SkySports interview, the comparison shouldn’t exist as he terms Hamilton as the best that has ever graced Formula 1.
The entire comparison between the two started when Verstappen finally started to vie for the championship against Hamilton in 2021. Fortunately, Verstappen won his maiden title that year.
Since then, the Dutchman has been unstoppable and repeated his championship success in 2022, and is once again on the verge of cementing himself as a champion at the pinnacle of motorsport this year. Hence, comparisons are natural. However, Sebastian Vettel does not believe so.
Sebastian Vettel thinks Hamilton and Verstappen comparisons are unwarranted
On one hand, Vettel has been one of Hamilton’s main rivals in his career spanning 15 years. On the other hand, Verstappen has also been a part of the German star’s journey. So, all in all, he has seen both of them at their best. However, for Vettel, they shouldn’t be matched.
“You cannot compare Max to Lewis. There’s not one formula, one recipe to success. Lewis has demonstrated that he is the best that has ever been,” he said to Sky Sports.

While, Vettel portrays a diplomatic stance, and is not siding with Hamilton in the debate anyway, the latter made comments that certainly irked Verstappen quite a bit.
Lewis Hamilton boasts ‘stronger’ teammates
While Mercedes and Red Bull are no longer directly vying for the same spot in the championship, their drivers still have erstwhile heat in the banter in between. Before the F1 contingent travelled for Singapore, Hamilton claimed that he had stronger teammates than Verstappen ever did.
Hamilton in his career had three world champions as his teammate and Verstappen had none. So, it’s not tough to know whether he was right or wrong. However, it’s believed to be made in the wrong taste.
This is what probably irked Red Bull’s star driver, Max Verstappen . In reaction to the comments by the seven-time world champion, the Red Bull star said Hamilton is probably is “little jealous” of his success.
