Hamilton searches for Red Bull’s party mode button, Mercedes start some banter
Lewis Hamilton managed to secure P3 after qualifying in Mexico, despite Mercedes being way off pace during practice on Friday.
The engineers made some important changes to help Mercedes gain some time in sector 2 and 3, something that was proving to be too much of an issue for both Mercedes and Ferrari.
The Red Bulls were dominant as ever in Mexico, with Daniel Ricciardo securing pole in dramatic fashion, pipping his teammate Max Verstappen to it, despite Max ‘winning’ all practice sessions leading up to qualifying.
In the post qualifying interview, Hamilton admitted to the fact that Red Bull were always going to be quicker in Mexico, owing to the high altitude of the circuit and how engine advantage is neutralised here.
Hamilton congratulated Ricciardo for his brilliant lap at the end. He was then pictured looking very closely at the Red Bull.
He did not quite touch the car though, as confirmed by the Mercedes twitter account.
Not touching, can’t get mad… 👀😜 pic.twitter.com/gHgkps7dIH

A few fans were quick to point out how Sebastian Vettel ended up rolling Hamilton’s car in Sochi, searching for the alleged blisters that his rears had endured during the race, one that was the ‘primary’ reason for Mercedes imposing team orders during the race.
No touching? Ol’ Sebby was rolling Lewis’ silver beasty around in Parć Ferme a few races back 🤔
😉 😂

Was what Seb did legal?
Bu the most important question going into today’s race is if Sebastian Vettel can somehow win the race and take the title race to Brazil(Hamilton will have to finish below 7th for that).
