Rohit Sharma’s brilliant catch to dismiss Usman Khawaja: Indian middle-order batsman dived forward to complete the dismissal.
During the fourth day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, India middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma ran in from the boundary and dived forward to complete a brilliant catch which saw the end of Australia batsman Usman Khawaja.
The dismissal of Khawaja came as a big blow for the hosts for they were relying heavily on his form in the given situation. Moreover, the way he got out would have been utter disappointing for his team.
It all happened on the third delivery of the 24th over when Khawaja’s attempt of stepping out to play an aerial shot off Ashwin saw him mis-timing the ball high in the air towards the deep extra cover region.
Sharma, who was fielding at the boundary, ran in from the deep to not let down his team by grabbing an outstanding catch. Khawaja ended up scoring 8 (42).
Khawaja was the third Australian wicket to fall, leaving behind 263 runs for the other batsmen to chase. If Australia manage to seal the chase, it will go down as one of their best in the history of the game.
However, it won’t be as easy as it sounds for scoring 323 runs in the fourth innings on the Adelaide wicket sounds to be an onerous task. With Ashwin bowling from the other end, things are highly likely of getting really hard for the Australian batsmen.
