Twitter reactions on MS Dhoni’s run out as India agonisingly lost the first semi-final of the 2019 Cricket World Cup vs New Zealand

It’s done and dusted. Team India lost the semi-final of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup at The Old Trafford by 18 runs versus New Zealand to crash out of tournament.

It seemed to be curtains for India quite early on in their 240 run chase, as they lost their Top 3 in-form batsmen- Rohit Sharma (1 off 4), KL Rahul (1 off 7), and skipper Virat Kolhi (1 off 6) within the first four overs of the second innings.

But, the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (77 off 59) and MS Dhoni (50 off 72) pulled back things dramatically in India’s favour as the duo stitched together a 116-run partnership for the seventh wicket. But, Jadeja got out at a critical moment, when India needed another 32 runs off 13 balls.

But still, with Dhoni on the pitch, the match was going to be all but over. And with 31 required in 12 balls, he even hit a maximum off Lockie Ferguson in the first delivery of the 49th over, to bring down the equation to 25 off 11 deliveries. But an amazing bull’s eye hit from Martin Guptill from the fine-leg region the next ball broke billions of Indian hearts, which ultimately proved to be the last nail in the Indian coffin.
