The fifth match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League will be played between IPL Champions Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals in Delhi. With both the teams coming on the back of winning their first match, it is expected to be a riveting contest.

While it were Super Kings’ bowlers who dictated terms in their first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, it was Capitals’ batting unit, primarily Rishabh Pant, who took on the opposition bowlers at will against Mumbai Indians.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that CSK’s bowling against DC’s batting might just be the contest which decides the fortune of tonight’s match. With Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Pant appearing in an advertisement before IPL 2019, the match will also lay emphasis on the two wicket-keepers’ rivalry.

What do numbers suggest?

In the 18 matches which Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals have played in the IPL, Chennai have won 12 while Delhi have won the other six. Feroz Shah Kotla, Capitals’ home ground and the venue for the match, has seen both these teams lock horns on six occasions. Having won four matches at Feroz Shah Kotla, CSK lead the Head-to-Head count here as well.

CSK’s average score of 163 against DC is way better than DC’s score of 146 against CSK. Considering both the team’s recent encounters, both of them have won a couple of matches each in the last four matches played between them. Recent form in association with playing their home crowd might give some hope to DC but otherwise it looks as if visitors would continue on their winning momentum.
