Patrick Beverley Lashes Out at Chris Haynes’ ‘LeBron James Interaction’ Where He Called Him a ‘Fool’
Patrick Beverley has had beef with several NBA players in the past. But this time, the veteran seems to have an ongoing issue with NBA insider, Chris Haynes. The 36-year-old called out Haynes for an interaction he had with LeBron James shortly after Beverley’s Media Day interview with the NBA insider.
Beverley had an issue with Haynes referring to him as a ‘fool’ as he cited one of his quotes from the interview to LeBron.
On The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone, the former Milwaukee Bucks guard lashed out at the NBA reporter, saying, “Fool? Explain that to me, Mr. Haynes. How the f- am I a fool? What did you exactly mean by I’m a fool?”
“I got kids that watch NBA TV and I got kids that watch Inside NBA and hear you talk. You gon’ come around LeBron and call me a fool?” Beverley added.
To explain the context to his viewers, Pat Bev then went into Haynes’ initial interaction with him. This happened back in 2022 on Media Day when the senior NBA insider asked Beverley about his favorite LeBron highlight.
The veteran guard named a defensive stop on LeBron as his favorite LBJ highlight. Pat Bev was referring to the play during a Christmas Day matchup with the Lakers a few years ago (when he was with the Clippers) when he stole the ball from The King.
This moment stood out for Beverley because of the meaning the Lakers vs. Clippers matchup always carries. However, Haynes found it funny because he was actually looking for a LeBron highlight where the four-time NBA Champion was on the driver’s seat.
The veteran reporter had a sit-down with LeBron later that year, where he brought up Beverley’s story. However, during his conversation, Haynes was heard saying, “This fool, [Beverley] he gon’ say, the block I had on LeBron.’”
Even though both Haynes and LeBron laughed at Beverley’s remark, the latter didn’t take it as a joke. He found the comment very disrespectful, especially since his kids watch these interviews on TV as well.
Haynes had issued an apology for his remarks after the incident, as Beverley mentioned on the podcast. The NBA insider had clarified that he used the word ‘fool’ jokingly, and not as an expletive. However, it’s pretty clear from Beverley’s comments that he still hasn’t buried the hatchet with Haynes for those remarks.
