Manchester United started on a higher note from the first second when Jesse Lingard shot the ball from outside the box within ten seconds of the kickoff. They kept on piling pressure on the hosts and Diogo Dalot produced an excellent cross to find Romelu Lukaku inside the six-yard box.

When the Belgian International had time and space to find the back of the net, he headed the ball straight into Rui Patricio’s hand. Even though the ball was straight at the keeper, the Portuguese International had to react quickly to keep it out. United kept on troubling Conor Coady and co and finally broke the deadlock when the academy youngster Scott McTominay scored from outside the box in the 13th minute.

The Scottish International was given enough time to find the space and slot it past Rui Patricio to get his debut goal for the club in 41 appearances. It was a fantastic strike from the 22-year-old as he was called up to replace the injured Ander Herrera.

Wolves drew level through their forward Diogo Jota within twelve minutes. Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho controlled the game and the hosts had a chance, but their talisman Raul Jimenez failed to convert it from close range. The teams entered into the second half with scores level parity at 1-1.
