Matthijs De Ligt to Barcelona

Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt wants a move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Barcelona are looking to bring young prodigies to their squad as they plan for a quick transition to not let the club slip and go through trophyless seasons. The Blaugrana have decided to bring in Jean-Clair Todibo from Toulouse during the January transfer window, even though the deal was agreed after the completion of this season.

It is also understood that Samuel Umtiti is slowly recovering after suffering a knee injury which has kept him out for more than three months. There were several initial fears that the French International would require surgery, but it has been eased as the former Lyon defender has returned to light training.

Even though Barcelona have made an acquisition by luring him Jeison Murillo from Valencia, the club is constantly looking for permanent options. Gerard Pique is also not becoming young as the day passes by. According to the Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt is eager to move to Barcelona after his fellow teammate Frenkie De Jong has already accepted a move to Catalonia in the summer.

The 19-year-old has built an enormous reputation around world football and won the Golden boy award for the year 2018. It is understood that Juventus, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping their eyes on the Dutch defender who looks increasingly likely to leave the Dutch outfit in the forthcoming months.

The report also adds on that Ajax would demand a fee of 75 million up front and 11 million euros add-ons.  For him to take the first step in this transfer, he must make sure that Barcelona have withstanding interest on him.

If Barcelona’s offer comes closer to what others are ready to offer him, the Dutch International is ready to give up on other deals to make a move to Barcelona.

Even though he is interested in a move to Nou Camp, no decision has been taken by De Ligt because Barcelona already have the likes of Gerard Pique, Samuel Umititi, Clement Lenglet, Thomas Vermaelen and Jean-Clair Todibo at disposal.

Ajax would be expecting no lesser than an auction in the summer transfer window as some of the top European heavyweights would be ready to battle out for his signature.
