Tanguy Ndombele: Man Utd approach midfielder for summer transfer, confirms club president

Tanguy Ndombele has been one of the Ligue 1’s top performers this season and Lyon’s president has now confirmed that Man Utd are one of the interested clubs for his signature.

Manchester United have been hugely disappointing in the last few weeks. The side’s performances dipped ever since their victory against PSG in the round-of-16 of the Champions League.

Manchester United was knocked out of the quarterfinals of the FA Cup and the continental tournament, and have a fairly minimal chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

The side is currently at the sixth position in the league and missed a huge chance of going above the fifth-placed Arsenal last weekend, as United were held to a draw by Chelsea.

Justifiably, the fans and pundits have called for Manchester United to make multiple moves in the transfer market this summer, and club’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also hinted towards the same.

And now, Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that United have expressed their interest in the club’s midfielder, Tanguy Ndombele – but Manchester United isn’t the only club eyeing for his signature.

Tanguy Ndombele to Man Utd?

The Lyon president confirmed that five major European clubs have shown their interest in the signing of the 22-year-old midfielder.

“Are Juventus after Ndombele? Yes it’s true. But PSG are also there, Manchester United and City too,” Aulas said.

However, the president stated that he would prefer to sell Ndombele to Juventus to pair him with Miralem Pjanic, who spent a considerable amount of time at Lyon in the past.

“Honestly, I would like to see Ndombele at Juventus with [Miralem] Pjanic, a player that broke out at Lyon and a player I am still very attached to.

“We will see what happens.”

Manchester United will be looking to wrap up the deals early in the summer transfer window this season, as Solskjaer leads a major overhaul at Old Trafford.
