“A Shame They Are Leaving You”: Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s Tribute to Departing Partner Resonates With NASCAR Fans
Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s immediate mission will be to land a sponsor after the Cincinnati-based Kroger Racing ended its association with his team. Kroger, an official marketing and merchandising program that features the biggest grocery brands across the country, served as the sponsor for Stenhouse Jr.’s #47 team for the last five years.
Stenhouse Jr. put out a message of thanks, acknowledging the production relationship with Kroger, which is likely to move to RFK Racing. The highpoint of their association was the victory at the 2023 Daytona 500.
“It’s been really fun getting to know everyone. Going to Kroger store appearances. Our offseason meetings, that kind of kick off the season. I’ve always had fun doing all those things. Our win this year in Talladega was a huge one. Later in the season, in the playoffs, it had a magical feel to it,” said Ricky in a video he posted on X.

The split appears to stem from the reported change in ownership structure at JTG Daugherty Racing. It was speculated earlier this year that Tad Geschickter, the longtime majority owner, might part ways with the team.
It was rumored that he might take up a role in Joe Gibbs Racing and take Kroger’s sponsorship with him. But sources are all but sure now that it will be RFK Racing, which is expected to add a third charter to its roster next season, bringing Ryan Preece on board. The expansion would be a big step ahead for the Brad Keselowski co-owned organization.
Fans react to Kroger parting ways with Stenhouse Jr.
Despite the split, Stenhouse Jr. is expected to continue racing in the Cup Series with a different sponsor. Racing fans jumped in to support him through the changing and challenging times. One commented on his post, “you represented them well!”
Another said, “Kroger has been great for you and likewise, you have been great for Kroger” That should have put a smile on the driver’s face. Another staunch fan said, “Hoping for only the best of outcomes for you no matter what”
