Man Utd transfer news: Manchester United in talks with Jorge Mendes for £42 million Juventus defender
Man Utd news: Manchester United in talks with Jorge Mendes for £42 million Juventus defender as Ole Solskjaer is looking for new defensive reinforcements in the market.
Manchester United faced a major setback last night, as the 20 times English champions failed to qualify for the next campaign of the Champions league.
In the post-match interview, Manchester United manager hinted that the Red Devils will be vying for the new signings this summer. Further, Solskjaer’s concerns in the defense might have compelled the club to enquire about the Juventus defender Joao Cancelo from agent Jorge Mendes.
Cancelo, who joined Juventus last summer did not get satisfactory game-time and could quit the Italian club this summer.
Hence, the Red Devils are ready to offer £42 million for the Portuguese player. However, Juventus have valued the player for at least £50 million. Thus, in order to secure the deal, Manchester United are reportedly ready to include Matteo Darmian in the deal.
The Italian defender has been underwhelming for Manchester United with only 14 league appearances this season, leaving him on the periphery of the team.
On the other hand, Manchester United compromised with the right-back position by deploying Ashley Young over there, which contributed in several losses.
Although, most of the players throughout this season did not stand up to expectations. Further, their underwhelming performance last night made the fans furious as the club only required 16 points in the last nine games of the league for the Champions league qualification.
Hence, the Portuguese International looks like a much required recruitment for the Solskjaer’s side for the next season.

What’s next for Manchester United?
The Red Devils will host Cardiff City at Old Trafford in the last game-week of the Premier league. Ole Solskjaer have nothing to gain from this fixture, thus we might see youngsters in the lineup next week.
