While CSK were above MI in the points table, MI defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 9 wickets in the last league match saw them topping the points table.

After CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and put the opposition in to bat on both occasions, MI successfully defended 170 and 155 runs in Mumbai and Chennai respectively.

With the Qualifier 1 scheduled to be played at Chepauk, Super Kings wouldn’t be taking the contest lightly even on their home ground as they haven’t defeated Mumbai Indians in Chennai since 2010. Furthermore, they have the worst IPL record against the only other team apart from them who have won the IPL thrice.
