MS Dhoni run-out vs MI: Was Dhoni out or not in IPL final vs MI?
MS Dhoni run-out vs MI: Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni’s dismissal in IPL 2019 final became a source of debate.
During the final of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s dismissal ended up becoming a source of debate.
The 37-year old cricketer getting run-out in a big final was the last thing that anyone would have anticipated. It all happened on the fourth ball of the 13th over when Dhoni’s attempt of running an overthrow saw him struggling with an inch at the bowler’s end.
After Chennai opening batsman Shane Watson hit the ball on the leg-side off MI all-rounder Hardik Pandya, a mis-field at the bowler’s end saw the batsmen running an extra run. What caused confusion in the middle was the fact that two separate angles during the replays were suggesting two different outcomes.
While Dhoni looked out from one angle, what said of the otherwise from the other angle was that the bail wasn’t completely dislodged. Since the bail is required to be completely dislodged, there was an opinion that Dhoni should have been given not-out.
Dhoni, who came in to bat at No. 5 in the 11th over, found himself in a quintessential situation from where he was anticipated to win the match for Super Kings. However, him getting out on 2 (8) came as a huge blow for the defending champions in a 150-run chase.
How Twitter reacted:
The bails were not dislodged completely. No idea why the umpire wasn’t offered that frame. Just one more frame. #MIvCSK #IPL2019Final https://t.co/8rxhVq8Jsd
