Arsenal are confident of Aaron Ramsey to sign new contract with the club. The Welsh international played Arsenal’s first game against Manchester City.

Aaron Ramsey is one of Arsenal’s longest serving men in the current season’s squad. The Wales international has been associated with the club since the last ten years. However, he just has one year left on his contract which is set to expire in 2019 summer. This means that Ramsey can negotiate with other clubs from January.

The 27 year old has been on the radar of Chelsea and Manchester United due to the stagnation of contract talks between the Gunners and him. On the other hand, Barcelona and Lazio have also stepped up with their pursuit of him along with a few clubs from the Chinese Super League.

Despite foreign and domestic interest in the Arsenal midfielder, Arsenal remain confident about hanging onto his services. Aaron Ramsey is aware about Mesut Ozil’s mammoth wage of £350,000 pounds a week and is looking to earn a similar amount. He is also looking to use interest from elsewhere as a bait to persuade the Gunners.

Aaron Ramsey knows how important he is for the Gunners despite a squad reshuffle this summer. His bargaining power is also high now due to the interest that he is subject to. Also, he can easily command a weekly wage of 250,000 pounds in a different team should he decide to move on.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are stuck in a locked position. While the Gunners want to offer Ramsey a higher wage and keep him, they also want to maintain their finances properly and assure uniformity in the wage structure throughout the club’s books. What will happen needs to be seen in the coming months.

What is clear is that Ramsey will stay with Arsenal at least this summer and for the next full season. He would be hoping to strengthen his case of a better waged contract when the Gunners visit Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
