South Africa batting sensation AB De Villiers on Wednesday (18th April) termed his Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) teammate and skipper Virat Kohli as the best batsman in the world at the moment.

ABD has been sharing the dressing room with the Indian cricketer since 2011 and seen his evolvement over the years. He also stated that Virat is very health conscious and he is not surprised to see Virat’s success.

“Virat deserves everything that’s coming his way. I have seen him work very hard on his game. From the time Mark Boucher (another South African who played for RCB) told me there is a special talent coming your way, I was not surprised to be honest,” de Villiers quoted as saying by India Today.

“He has always been the guy who has grit between the heath, very passionate, very driven, have seen him do his thing for years now.

There’s no doubt in my mind he is the best player in the world at the moment and will be for quite a few the years to come. Very proud of the way he goes about his business and the way he has evolved as the best player in the world,” he added.

AB De Villiers’ statement is totally justified as Virat is a hulk when it comes to batting across all formats of the game. Virat is the only batsman to average more than 50 in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. He has 21 tons in tests and 35 ODI centuries in his name. He is currently at No. 1 in ODI and No. 2 in Tests in ICC players ranking.

Virat has surpassed Suresh Raina’s tally of 4558 IPL runs to become the highest run scorer of Indian Premier League (IPL) history. Moreover, RCB captain is also the “Orange Cap” holder by becoming the highest run-getting for this season.
