Fan footage shows crowd booed and reacted angrily to anticlimactic ending to AEW Revolution 2021. The show was closed by Kenny Omega vs Jon Moxley.

A show is always judged by the act that closed it, which is why the ending is so important. AEW seemed to have that in the bag with Kenny Omega vs Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship in an exploding barbed wire death match  as their main event at AEW Revolution.

Two of the company’s biggest stars? Check. High stakes? Check. Crazy stipulation? Check. Months of storybuilding and fan investment? Check. Nothing could go wrong and yet, despite having such an amazing match, everything did go wrong.

The match was supposed to end with the ring exploding while Eddie Kingston shielded Moxley. What fans got instead, was an embaraasing boom and sparklers, while Kingston fainted like he had been hit with a grenade. Fans were naturally upset and vocally let their dissapointment known.

AEW seems to have masked the boos on their PPV stream. However, fan footage has revealed exactly how the crowd in attendance reacted to the failure.

Tony Khan later said that they would turn their dissapointing ending into a storyline. However, he wouldn’t admit that there was a misfire. Though he did all but confirm that Moxley blaming the dud on Omega was what they were going to go with.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
