Former WWE Superstar Andrade makes AEW debut

Former WWE Superstar Andrade makes AEW debut. The former United States Champion  announced that he was going to be the face of the promotion.

Andrade was granted his release from the WWE back in March. His exit did not include a 90-day no compete clause. This meant hie could have joined any promotion he wanted and performed for them without having to wait for 30 days.

A little over a month later he joined Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. He appeared in a video package on their Rey de Reyes show, challenging Kenny Omega to a match at TripleMania XXIX for the AAA Mega Championship. There were rumors of talks between him and AEW but with this announcement,  it seemed that his future was already decided. But as it is with wrestling, nothing is ever truly certain.

Earlier in the night, Mark Henry walked out to address the crowd in Daily’s Place. He was interrupted by Vickie Guerrero who came out screaming “EXCUSE ME!” She went on to introduce Andrade El Idolo but was met with a huge chorus of boos that many failed to even notice the introduction until he came out, at which point, the crowd lost their mind.

The former United States Champion kept his speech short, telling the crowd in attendance that he wanted to be the face of All Elite Wrestling.

His deal with AEW is unlikely to be permanent considering he recently signed with AEW. Rerardless, it will be interesting to see what he does in the promotion.

Will he chase Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship as well? Or does he have his sights on the TNT Championship instead? Perhaps a marquee opponent he wants to have a dream match with? The possibilities are endless and it should be a fun ride, whichever direction they choose to go.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
