I have picked 3 bowlers for this match. Liam Plunkett has been bowling his heart out off late and even in the warm-up match against Australia, he picked up 4 wickets. He bowled well at the death and therefore, he can be a gold mine for me.
Alongside Plunkett, I’ve selected Chris Woakes who has also been bowling accurately especially at the death. He was the Man of the Series in the series against Pakistan. His line and length, especially in English conditions, is very effective and has been getting him many wickets.
My last bowler is Rashid Khan. The spin wizard from Afghanistan can never be discounted since he can turn the match on it’s head in one over. Get him in ASAP!

I have just selected one all-rounder in the form of Mohammad Nabi. Nabi has been a dedicated servant of Afghan cricket since it’s inception and is still going strong. He picks up wickets from time to time and is very economical. He can also play an important role with the bat down the order.

I was given the option to choose between 3 glove-men and I went ahead and picked them all. My captain for this match, Jonny Bairstow has been prolific with the bat off late especially in the IPL and the Pakistan series. He has been timing the ball and hitting them out of the park equally well.
He has to be in along with Jos Buttler who is also in the form of his life with the bat. He has a great season for Rajasthan in the IPL and followed it up with some smashing performances against Pakistan which included a marvelous century.

Mohammad Shahzad, the Afghan keeper, has impressed one and all with his power hitting. He can hit some huge sixes and has been able to be consistent at that. If he scores a big one, it could be a treat for the viewers and for my team since he will also be the vice captain of this team.

I have gone in with 4 batsmen for this match. Joe Root, who missed the last warm-up, is expected to play here and hence, I get him into my team considering he is an extremely dependable batsman who can play a long and big knock.
Rahmat Shah of Afghanistan has been great with the bat as well over the past few games. He can be a stabiliser of the Afghan innings with many power hitters batting around him.
Another Afghan batsman who has impressed a lot over the last year is Hazratullah Zazai. He can smack the ball hard at the top of the order and play a big and destructive innings. Zazai also scored a blistering 49 off just 28 balls in the last match.
My last pick here would be Jason Roy. He has been in great form over the past month. He even hit a big century against Pakistan less than a month back. Bring him in if he plays. If he doesn’t, you can also go with James Vince.
