Ajinkya Rahane 100 vs Delhi Capitals

Ajinkya Rahane 100 vs Delhi Capitals: Twitter was exhilarated as axed India batsman scored his second IPL century vs DC.

During the 40th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals at Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals opening batsman Ajinkya Rahane registered his second IPL century. After been replaced as captain by Steven Smith, Rahane’s sublime knock has seen him return back to form post a mediocre season till now.

Rahane, who opened the batting with wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson (0), was initially responsible for running out Samson in the second over. That being said, the 30-year old cricketer remained undeterred by the same on his way to a responsible knock.

Rahane shared a 130-run partnership for the second wicket alongside Smith (50). Usually known for getting his eye in and then going against the bowlers, Rahane attacked Capitals’ bowlers from the powerplay itself tonight. Out of Royals’ 52/1 in the powerplay, Rahane had contributed 40* (25).

On the fourth ball of the eight over, Rahane pulled a Chris Morris delivery to complete his half-century for the first time in IPL 2019. With Smith also joining the act, Royals had scored 95/1 at the halfway mark. At the same point, Rahane was batting on 68* (40).

Coming on the back of a lean patch, Rahane’s innings was a testament to his calibre in limited-overs cricket. Primarily known to play conventional shots, Rahane was seen unconventionally flicking a Morris delivery for a six over deep square leg in the 13th over.

On the second delivery of the 17th over, Rahane ran a couple of runs on the leg-side off DC fast bowler Ishant Sharma to achieve the milestone. Carrying his bat, Rahane ended up scoring 105* (63) with the help of 11 fours and three sixes. On the back of his knock, RR scored a formidable 191/6 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.
