CSK batting star Ambati Rayudu has been left out from the India A squad after skipping the Yo-Yo test.

Ambati Rayudu was removed from the Indian ODI squad touring England because he failed to pass the Yo-Yo test. Not only did Rayudu fail but scored an abysmal 14.1 which was way short of the benchmark 16.1 for clearing the Yo-Yo test.

Rayudu proved to be the highest scoring batsman for CSK this season. In 15 matches, Rayudu scored 586 runs at an average of more than 40. He has also notched up a century. On the back of his consistent performances, he even broke through in the Indian ODI squad touring England.

However, following the failure in the test, Rayudu was dropped for the England ODI squad and Suresh Raina replaced him. This created a lot of furor and even displeased the HCA Secretary Sheshnarayan who questioned the validity of the Test.

“This looks very lopsided and deep-rooted. Since a person who got nearly the highest runs in IPL this year and has also played all the 50-over games in the domestic season, he now finds himself unfit on some highly overrated fitness tests. How can an unfit person score so many runs? This is very harsh and draconian. HCA will stand by its players and fight for their rights.

We know what is going on behind the scenes and people are taking advantage of the fluid situation in the BCCI and pushing decisions. We demand that the process of the tests be made transparent and open to public domain,” demanded the Secretary.

Rayudu had earlier said that he was aiming to re-appear for the Test in some time. However, as per latest reports Rayudu did not appear for the test in the six-week time given by the BCCI and has not been considered for the India A and Duleep trophy squads.
