Anthony Martial VAR Controversy: Poor VAR implementation as Manchester United was denied penalty surrounds controversy once again.

There has been innumerable over the implementation of VAR ever since the technology was introduced in the Premier League. Now, once again it has created a controversy as Manchester United was denied penalty against Bournemouth.

In the 33rd minute of the game, Manchester United’s Anthony Martial was brought down by Jefferson Lerma inside the box, as the Frenchman was dribbling towards the goal.

Even though Lerma won the ball, his challenge was clumsy and had enough contact to concede a foul. As Lerma made his challenge, his contact was enough to bring Martial down on the ground.

This challenge even made Martial furious and a brief scuffle between both the teams was seen. But, overall, Manchester united deserved a penalty after Martial was brought down.

But to surprise, even after making two bookings, the referee of the game did not give a penalty to Manchester United, even though there was

VAR for assistance.

Thus, it looks like a huge blunder by VAR, as the technology was brought to minimize such errors, and considering it was a clear foul inside the box, this should not be the end result.

In previous occasions also VAR has been a subject of criticism, as fans are not satisfied with its implementation, and it has failed in fulfilling its purpose.

Further in the game, Manchester United conceded a goal after Joshua King scored a sublime volley in the injury time of the first half. It was a poor defensive display by the Red Devils, as Aaron Wan-Bissaka allowed King to have a clear shot in front of the goal.

With this Manchester United faces a low ahead of the second half, and they need to pull back before the game ends and they once again lose points.
