Zinedine Zidane took a savage dig at Barcelona, as he trolled the Catalan giants over their number of La Liga titles in the pre-match press conference.
Real Madrid are officially out of the title race after Barcelona registered a 2-0 win over Alaves on Tuesday night.
With this win, the Catalan side has taken an unassailable 16 points-lead over Real Madrid, who are 3rd on the La Liga table.
The Los Blancos have had a disastrous season, as the side underwent two managerial changes throughout the course of the season. Julen Lopetegui was sacked for Santiago Solari, but the Real Madrid parted ways with the Argentine manager after the side was knocked out of the Champions League round-of-16 by Ajax.
Zinedine Zidane returned to the dugout, and is expected to lead a major squad overhaul in the summer at the club.
As Barcelona are cruising towards another league title, the reporters quizzed Zidane on whether Barcelona’s dominance in the league makes them the best Spanish side. The Frenchman, however, proceeded to troll the arch-rivals.
Zidane trolls Barcelona:
The Real Madrid manager insisted that La Liga will be the priority for the club next season. The Los Blancos have lifted only 2 league titles since 2010.
“La Liga is very important. It’s the daily objective,” Zidane told the reporters. “It’s going to be our first objective for the next season.”
However, Zidane insisted that Barcelona’s recent domination in the league doesn’t overshadow Real Madrid’s rich history in La Liga.
“We have 33 Liga titles. How many do Barcelona have? It’s true they are doing great in the last few years, and we have to recognise them, but in our history, there are many more titles.
“For me, it’s the most important title to fight for.”

Zinedine Zidane on La Liga: “For me the most important trophy is La Liga. The toughest. You need only 13 games in the UCL but have 38 weeks in the league. You must congratulate Barcelona for doing well lately, even though in history Real Madrid still have more league titles.” pic.twitter.com/2WvSeB0nQ7
