Antoine Griezmann: La Liga could block Griezmann’s move from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona according to La Liga president Javier Tebas.
Antoine Griezmann’s dream move to Barcelona runs the risk of getting revoked. Barcelona had announced the signing of the French forward after activating his 120m euro (£107m) release clause on 12 July.

Griezmann’s original release contract was set at 200m but the figure dropped to 120m euros on 1 July. Atletico Madrid claim that Barcelona was already in talks with the player before the release clause was readjusted. This, they believe, entitles them to the original 200m.

Barcelona defend their interest
Barcelona’s technical secretary Eric Abidal refuted the claim. He said that it was only after the player had announced his desire to leave did Barca make their move.
“In no way did we have any prior agreement with the player.
“[Barcelona] got in touch with his entourage, including his lawyer, after Griezmann announced his intention to leave his former club.
“[Barcelona] president Bartomeu contacted Atletico to learn about Griezmann’s contractual conditions and to inform them that, if there was to be no negotiations, Barcelona would pay the release clause of 120 million euros.
However, that didn’t stop Atletico from reporting Barcelona to the La Liga committee. The verdict will be out in the next two weeks. However, La Liga president Javier Tebas has given us a glimpse of the possibilities.
Transfer could be blocked
“It is possible to block a player’s transfer,” Tebas told Spanish radio station Onda Cero .
“La Liga will have to decide what course of action to take.”
“[Atletico] submitted a complaint and put in doubt whether we should pass Griezmann’s licence to Barcelona.
“There’s a process that has been put in motion and those overseeing it will have to come to resolve the case.”
