Antoine Griezmann has agreed personal terms with FC Barcelona.

Antoine Griezmann was sceptical about a move to Barcelona last summer, but the landscape has totally changed currently. The French International has confirmed he would leave Atletico Madrid concluding this season, with Barcelona eyed as next step, inevitably.

Barcelona’s board are long-term admirers of the Frenchman and they have never been shy about making an approach again this summer. By convincing him, the reigning La Liga champions have agreed personal terms, according to the German publication SportBild.

There were various rumours rumbling about Bayern Munich’s interest on the Frenchman, but the ever-reliable journalist, Christian Falk has denied those ostensible statements, paving clear route for FC Barcelona. The former Real Sociedad attacker is ready to take a pay cut in order to fulfil his aspirations.

The club is prepared to spend €125 million for his signature, and one of Ousmane Dembele or Philippe Coutinho will head to the exit door. It is most likely to see the latter leave the club after living through an abysmal time at Nou Camp. On the other hand, Ousmane Dembele’s season has been cut short after spending most of his time on the injury table.

The reason behind his departure is the failure of Diego Simeone’s side to go toe-to-toe with Barcelona for the La Liga and the failure to lift the Champions League. Besides, when he put pen to paper last summer, he was guaranteed about the prospect of landing world-class players. They were only able to sign Thomas Lemar and it restricted the hands of Simeone, having already shelled out a huge amount on Griezmann’s salary.

Antoine Griezmann is versatile and will fit anywhere in the front line. He could prove to be fantastic recoup for Ernesto Valverde.
