The U-19 selection committee of Mumbai Cricket Association led by Rajesh Pawar named Agni Chopra as the captain of the team for the first two games – against Baroda on 9th October, and against Saurashtra on 10th October in Mumbai.
The 15-member squad comprises of youngsters including wrist-spinner Yashasvi Jaiswal, left-arm spinner Atharva Ankolekar and Anjadeep Lad.

Pawar insisted that he was impressed with the all-round performance of Arjun Tendulkar in the trials for selection: “He will be our main all-rounder. I saw a lot of improvement in his game. ”
“When we played in Baroda recently, he bowled well and during our two practice matches here in Mumbai, he bowled and batted well. I consider him as a bowling all-rounder of the team,” Pawar spoke yesterday.
The 18-year-old has already represented Mumbai in the U-16 tournament back in the 2015-16 season while he also represented Parel Cricket Club in the ‘B’ division of the recently-concluded Dr HD Kanga Cricket League.
Rajesh Pawar on the other hand is confident about his team’s chances of winning the trophy, regardless of having fresh names. “We have a very good team. Most of these players will be playing in under-19 category for the first time. It depends on how quickly they pick up from here. I am confident they will raise the bar,” he said.
