Arsenal to consider selling Laurent Koscielny in the summer

Laurent Koscielny has been one of the best performers for Arsenal over the last decade, as the French defender has been a rock at the heart of the defense.

Plucked from relative obscurity, Koscielny developed into one of the best defenders in the world. Arsene Wenger has always had a gift of finding hidden gems and converting them into world beaters.

‘The Kos’ has been one of the best examples of Wenger’s brilliance in the Emirates era, as the Frenchman quickly became arguably the best defender in the league.

But a troublesome Achilles injury has bothered Koscielny for the last few years, as the Frenchman has not been able to perform to his full capacity, which is why Arsenal may have to take a really tough call in the summer.

The January transfer window was shocking different for Arsenal as a club, as there a new found ruthlessness in the manner in which they made their transfers. Selling Giroud and Walcott, two of Arsenal’s highest goal scorers, was unprecedented territory for Arsenal.

While Wenger was a master at being ruthless in the transfer market almost two decades ago, the French manager was seen as far more tolerant to mediocre results. But this new shift in strategy may even see the likes of Jack Wilshere leave the club, as the decision makers at Arsenal will not break the bank for the midfielder.

With Kos not getting an younger, there are reports that he may be sold off in the summer in order to provide funds for new transfers. In Chambers and Holding, Arsenal have two promising English defenders, who could fill the void that will be left by Kos.
