Mourinho was even offered the option of choosing the length of his contract. However, the 2-time UEFA champions league turned the lucrative offer down. The reason cited was his desire to add a third European title to his name.

Jose Mourinho was pictured with billionaire Xu Jiayin, chairman of the Evergrande group, in London in April. It is believed that the offered was made at the time. Despite being flattered at the offer, Mourinho politely declined.

European glory

Mourinho has managed several top European clubs including the aforementioned English clubs and Real Madrid. Both his champions league titles resulted in trebles. The European Glory came at his time in Porto and Inter Milan.

The Portuguese has been out of work since his axing from Manchester United. An ordinary man would have taken the offer. However, the Special one is holding out for an offer from Europe as he looks to add to his impressive 25 major honors.

The Special one

Jose Mourinho has made his name based on his tactical knowledge, charisma and controversial personality. He is known among his peers to emphasize results over playing beautiful football. It is this mantra that has led to his greatest victories and his failures as well. Mourinho was named Portuguese Coach of the Century by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) in 2015. He was also the first coach to spend more than £1 billion on transfers.
