Arsenal interested in Keylor Navas

Arsenal interested in Keylor Navas: Unai Emery is reportedly keen on making a move for Real’s unsettled goalkeeper.

Arsenal have faced two consecutive losses in four days in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup. While their unbeaten run ended at Southampton in a shock 3-2 loss, Arsenal were knocked out by their fellow rivals Tottenham in a 2-0 loss.

The side is fifth in the Premier League table, three points behind the fourth-placed Chelsea.

Unai Emery earlier confirmed that Arsenal might do business in the transfer market if they get the right man. However, he refused to disclose names.

It has now been reported in Spain that the Gunners’ coach is keen on signing Real Madrid’s out-of-favour goalkeeper, Keylor Navas. The Costa Rica player has spent most of the season at Real on the bench, with Thibaut Courtois being the first-choice keeper.

Arsenal interested in Keylor Navas:

The Gunners spend close to 20 million pounds to sign Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen at the beginning of the season.

However, it has been reported by multiple media outlets that the club’s second-choice keeper, Petr Cech might be set to leave at the end of the season, and Unai Emery isn’t inclined to promote Emiliano Martinez.

David Ospina, meanwhile, has been loaned out to Napoli.

The Gunners’ boss, hence, has set his eyes on Keylor Navas. El Confidencial has reported that Keylor Navas has grown frustrated with the lack of playing time. The Costa Rican has played an important role in the three successive Champions League titles for Real Madrid, but lost his status as first-choice keeper after the arrival of Courtois.

After Bernd Leno made an error in the game against Southampton, it is understood that Unai Emery intends to sign another goalkeeper in the next transfer window. Navas will also be available at cut-price fee next month, according to the report.

What next?

Arsenal will return to action in the Premier League on Saturday as they take on Burnley at Emirates Stadium.

Unai Emery will aim to end Arsenal’s disappointing run, and maintain pressure on the top four of the Premier League table. Arsenal are 11 points behind league leaders Liverpool, and three behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
