Arsenal have made three signings this summer so far, and have received a big boost for their fourth target.

Various reports confirm that Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi has handed in a transfer request at the Spanish club, in order to speed up a transfer to Arsenal.

The Frenchman has been one of Unai Emery’s primary targets ever since he replaced Arsene Wenger as Arsenal’s manager. The potential arrival of N’Zonzi will boost the midfield options for the Gunners.

The 29-year-old spent one season under Unai Emery at Sevilla, helping the club win the UEFA Europa League back in 2016. According to Daily Mail, N’Zonzi wants to reunite with his former head coach, and has handed a transfer request to fulfill his wish.

However, despite his eagerness to move to London, it is expected that the midfielder will wait for the end of the World Cup before making the move.

Even though the France international has a release clause of £35 million in his contract at the Spanish club, Sevilla are open to accept a fee of £22 million from the Emirates Stadium outfit.

Spanish news outlet, EFE, also reported that the midfielder’s father has informed Sevilla that his son wants to depart from the club this summer.

The report further establishes that the Gunners have already made an offer to the 29-year-old. N’Zonzi is currently in Russia with the French national team, who defeated Argentina in the Round of 16.

The 29-year-old has appeared in two of France’s four matches at the World Cup, and will be preparing for the upcoming World Cup quarter-final against Uruguay on Friday.

N’Zonzi has made 136 appearances across all competitions for the Los Rojiblancos, scoring a total of eight goals while setting up another seven.

On the other hand, the Premier League club is also tipped to complete a £26.5 million transfer of Sampdoria midfielder, Lucas Torreira, after the end of the World Cup.
