Arsenal Transfer News: Lucas Torreira admits his unhappiness at Arsenal

Lucas Torreira stated that he was more happy at Sampdoria than in London.

Lucas Torreira had admitted that he was ‘happier’ at Italy than in London. The midfielder said that he misses Italy more because of the environment change and this has altered some of the Serie A clubs.

The Uruguyuan International said: “I don’t know if there are a lot of things that I’m enjoying because I think I liked living in Italy more. London is a completely different world. England is a very big country.

I had trouble with the language, communicating, with my teammates, with the people, it’s pretty rough when you can’t have a dialogue, because that’s the most important part.

The weather is also difficult, you go out in the morning, and it’s cloudy and you get back after training and it’s still cloudy.”

When he was asked if he missed the sun, he replied: “Of course I miss the sun.

Most us South Americans are used to having sunny days. But I think I’ll get used to it as the years pass by.”

The 23-year-old was signed for a fee of £25 million for Sampdoria last summer. He started on a high, but faded as the season passed by. The Arsenal midfielder made 50 appearances for the Gunners, scoring twice and assisting on five occasions.

He has been linked with a move back to Italy, with AC Milan tipped to be the destination. Marco Giampaolo, the current Sampdoria manager is expected to sign for AC Milan in the upcoming days. He wants to be reunited with his Sampdoria midfield mainstay at San Siro.

Lucas Torreira has a contract until 2023 and it is unlikely to see him leave in this window. The Gunners would demand a minimum of 50 million, a price which will put off the Italian side.

What’s next?

Lucas Torreira is likely to stay put at the Emirates Stadium to develop his own game. He will be hoping to make a statement in the upcoming season.
