As Arsenal take on Napoli in the Europa League Quarterfinals, we shall look at the head-to-head statistics between these two clubs.

Arsenal will face off Napoli in the first leg of the Europa League Quarterfinals on Thursday. The Gunners faced the Italian outfit in the 2013/14 Champions League group stages, but they would facing them in an entirely different competition at a different stage as both the sides gear up for this tie.

These two sides have met twice in the European competition so far, with Arsenal and Napoli winning one apiece five years ago. The Gunners and then Rafa Benitez’s side were at their best during the start of the season and produced scintillating football all-around during their victories.

The Gunners are frightening in the offensive areas of the pitch, containing the likes of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Although those four have experience in the bag, it is very unlikely to see field all those above-mentioned players because of the defensive contributions to their game.

Arsenal’s defense is slightly suspectable and has struggled to keep clean sheets against quality opponents this campaign. Napoli will be looking at that aspect to take whole advantage of that situation to nick a goal or two and pressurize the Gunners. With the likes of Lorenzo Insigne, Arkadiusz Milik, and Dries Mertens, the Italian outfit will be able to break away through the counter attacks at a lightning speed.

Let us look at the head-to-head statistics between these two sides in Europe.

Arsenal have been overwhelming at their fortress, whilst it is the complete opposite when they are playing at the enemy territory.  The Gunners have won their last seven games at the Emirates Stadium and have been thoroughly in control in front of the Gunners fans.

In the recently concluded Serie A weekend, Carlo Ancelotti’s side drew against Genoa and sit second in the Serie A. The Italian top tier side have won six, drew two and lost twice in the process.
