Aubameyang on playing position

Aubameyang on playing position: The Arsenal footballer opened up on his playing position ahead of the North London derby.

Arsenal are set to play the season’s first North London derby later tonight. The side is currently 5th in the Premier League table.

Tottenham have had an impressive start to their season, as they sit at 3rd place. The side is also on an impressive run, having beaten Chelsea and Inter Milan over the past week.

Arsenal have a chance to go on level at points with Tottenham in the derby. The side dropped down in the table after being held to three consecutive draw games in the Premier League, before Aubameyang broke the run with a winner against Bournemouth last weekend.

The former Dortmund man, who joined Arsenal in January earlier this year, talked to Sky Sports about his season so far, and the North London derby. He also talked about his preferred playing position.

Aubameyang on playing position:

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently the joint-top scorer in the Premier League, alongside the Manchester City Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero.

The forward has now talked about the position he likes to play at on the field.

“I prefer to play as a striker,” Aubameyang said. However, he stated that he would play anywhere for the team.

“But I’m a guy who wants to work for the team as well. If they need me on the wing, I will play on the wing, of course, but I prefer to play up front,” the striker added.

Aubameyang also stated that it’s difficult to follow the footsteps of Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp, but that it motivates the squad to perform.

“It’s good when you are coming to work & you have great examples – Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp- it’s great to try to follow that.

“We try to follow in their footsteps. It’s not easy! It’s not pressure but you have to be good so you work for that,” Aubameyang said.

Earlier, Aubameyang also stated that the ‘superhero’ celebration could return if he scores in the North London derby. The celebration gained a lot of prominence during Aubameyang’s time at Borussia Dortmund.
