The first Test of the ongoing Pakistan’s tour of Australia will start in Brisbane from tomorrow. The last time both the teams played a Test in Australia was almost three years ago. The hosts had easily whitewashed the three-match series after winning the New Year’s Test in Sydney by 220 runs.

Having defeated Pakistan 2-0 in the T20I series, Australia would be confident going into the two-match Test series. With James Pattinson ruled out of the match, Australia’s bowling department now comprises of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon.

Among the two major changes that Australia have made in the batting division is including opening batsman Joe Burns and all-rounder Travis Head in the middle-order.

While Pakistan have not confirmed their Playing XI, 16-year old Naseem Shah debuting tomorrow looks a close possibility. Other than being their first Test post the sacking of former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, this will also be Pakistan’s first Test in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.

Having last won a Test match in Australia in 1995 under legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram’s leadership, the visiting team would be eager to register their first victory on the Australian soil in this century.
