Australian Men’s cricket team: Will Steve Smith play in tomorrow’s practice match vs Derbyshire?
Australian Men’s cricket team: Australia have announced their Playing XI for the practice match against Derbyshire tomorrow.
England all-rounder Ben Stokes had come in between Australia and them retaining the ashes a few days ago at Headingley. Just when Australia seemed likely to go 2-0 up in the series, Stokes’ awe-inspiring innings made sure that the series remains alive in the remaining two matches.
While a draw series score will be enough for Australia retaining the Ashes, the hosts will have to register a series victory to win back the Ashes. If Australia manage to win the series, it will be the first time since 2001 that they will win a Test series in England.

Before the fourth Test begins at Old Trafford from September 4, Australia will play a three-day match against Derbyshire in Derby from tomorrow. The mid-series warm-up match will provide a chance to the visitors to think again about their team combination.
On the eve of the match, Australia have announced their squad for the practice match. While batsman Usman Khawaja will lead the Australian side, Alex Carey will keep wickets despite not being in the original Ashes squad.
Smith, who missed the third Test after coping a nasty blow from England fast bowler Jofra Archer, will be seen taking the field tomorrow. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh and the fast bowling duo of Mitchell Starc and Michael Nesser, who are yet to play any Test, will also have a lot to prove in Derby.
Fast bowler Peter Siddle, who played the first Two test matches before getting benched for the third one, has also been included in the squad.
It is worth mentioning that notable names such as David Warner, Travis Head, Tim Paine, James Pattinson, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood will not take part in the match.
