It is that time again where odds run wild regarding the winner of the Royal Rumble. It is a show that is considered one of the most entertaining in the business. The card is always decked, championships are defended and opportunities are created.

It is being speculated by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Vince McMahon has changed his mind on the initially planned main event of next year’s Royal Rumble.

It was believed that Finn Balor would face “The Beast” Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.

Balor was the inaugural Champion after winning it at Summerslam 2016; an unfortunate injury during the match forced him to vacate the title. He is yet to receive his rematch even after recovering from his injury long back.

Meltzer further stated that the decision was made early Monday morning and was also brought up backstage during the Survivor Series pay-per-view.

It is believed that McMahon feels Balor is not over with the fans which would sum up his lukewarm performance at Survivor Series and a loss to Samoa Joe on RAW.

Another suggestion brought up backstage for Brawn Strowman to face Brock Lesnar, but it seems highly unlikely since the match already took place at the No Mercy pay-per-view a few months back

The title is highly unlikely to change hands since a huge amount of work has been done to build up Lesnar vs. Reigns at WrestleMania. Apart from that, McMahon doesn’t want anyone to kick out of the F-5 until WrestleMania.

Seems like poor old Finn won’t be getting his rematch after all, let us know about this random change down in the comments section!
