Barcelona deny Rabiot approach

Barcelona have released a statement that they have not approached Adrien Rabiot yet.

Barcelona have denied that they have a deal in place to sign Adrien Rabiot as a free agent next summer. The La Liga outfit have been long-term admirers of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder who has denied to extend his contract with the French Champions.

Numerous offers have been placed on Rabiot’s table, but he has denied any sort of approach from the club, making it clear that he wants a move elsewhere.

Barcelona have been named as the favourites, but there are reported interest from Liverpool, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Tottenham Hotspur. Despite being labelled as the front-runners, they have denied that they have not approached the player.

“In response to the news that has appeared in France, Barcelona state that there has been no breach of regulations regarding the signing of PSG players,” the statement read.

“The only contact was made last August and then a week ago. In both cases, the contact was made with the PSG sporting manager in order to express Barcelona’s interest in Adrien Rabiot.

“Barcelona always want to work with the highest level of transparency and deny the existence of any type of agreement with Adrien Rabiot.”

PSG Sporting Director Antero Henrique announced that the midfielder will be kept out of the first team training until further notice or at least until he signs a new contract.

Additionally, Thomas Tuchel, who saw him as the future of the club handed over the captain’s armband to Rabiot before the start of this campaign. Despite having a private chat with the French International, the former Borussia Dortmund manager was not able to convince him to stay.

But, the relationship between the manager and the player became sour when Rabiot arrived late to the training and team meetings. For his delinquency action, he was benched for the game against Marseille.

When the club management told about the decision to axe the player, Tuchel did not have second thoughts about it and got along with it. It is not the first time he has shown his terrible attitude.

The midfielder was included in the World Cup squad but decided to back out when Didier Deschamps explained him the role and the amount of game time he will get during that major tournament. He was supposed to be part of the reserves.

France manager was clearly infuriated with the actions of the midfielder by excluding himself from the shortlist.

As far as the club is concerned, it is fair to say that the reigning Ligue 1 Champions are not seeing him as a PSG player anymore, and are willing to sell him for a fee about 20 million Euros in January, rather than losing him for nothing when his contract expires in the forthcoming summer window.

The talent is clearly visible, but Rabiot must act better to have a prolonged career in professional football. The next six months will be interesting to see his development. There are plenty of options for him and whether he decides to sit at PSG or force to move in January is yet to be known.
