Radio Cataluna claims the 31-year old Uruguayan striker looks most likely to make way for Antoine Griezmann this summer.

After an eventful transfer saga last summer, FC Barcelona has entered the race for Antoine Griezmann. The Atletico Madrid star was linked to Manchester United in the summer transfer window, but the move fell through.

The 27-year old French striker is hot property among the FC Barcelona insiders. Spanish media outlet Radio Cataluna claims that Luis Suarez will make way for the Atletico forward. According to their report, the Barcelona will sell Suarez if they succeed in signing Griezmann.

Luis Suarez is the oldest attacking threat in the Barcelona camp. Ousmane Dembele had a troublesome season at Nou Camp, but Valverde has shown confidence in the teenager. Phillippe Coutinho joined Barca this year in January, and Paco Alcacer has also stepped-up as a decent back-up option.

Addressing the media earlier this week, Valverde opened up on Griezmann’s transfer rumours. “He’s a great player, that is clear. In the future, we’ll we what happens,”, said Valverde.

Suarez joined FC Barcelona in 2014, and has since appeared in 195 games for the club, scoring 151 goals.

Griezmann signed a new deal with the Madrid club this summer. His release clause, however, came down from 175m to 87m.

Luis Suarez, in his interview with Spanish radio Rincon, was all praises about the French striker. “It makes the club proud to bring players of this quality (Antoine),”, Suarez said.

Suarez also emphasised that winning trophies is more important than ‘taking someone’s place’.

There have also been suggestions of Barcelona offering Suarez to his former club Liverpool. The Merseyside club, on the other hand, has shown interest in Barca teenager Ousmane Dembele.

Antoine Griezmann signed for Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014. In his four years at the club, he played 206 games, scoring 110 goals. He won the now defunct La Liga ‘Best player’ award in 2015-16 for his exploits in the offence.
