Reo Griffiths has been dubbed the next Harry Kane, after the striker scored 34 goals in the U-18 season for Tottenham.

The summer transfer window is on its way and the clubs are identifying players who can strengthen the squad for the next season. FC Barcelona, having won the league title this season, are already closing in on the Antoine Griezmann deal.

However, the club’s consistent failures in the Champions League over the past three seasons have pushed the board to identify targets for the summer.

The latest among the transfer targets is the 17-year old Tottenham striker Reo Griffiths. Griffiths currently play for the Tottenham U-18 squad and is yet to sign a professional contract with the club.

However, the fans are already calling him the next Harry Kane at the North-London club. The striker scored 34 goals in the U-18 season this year,13 more than the second-highest scorer.

According to reports, Griffiths impressed Barcelona when the young striker scored a hattrick in the 9-0 drubbing of derby rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham are planning to offer him a professional contract after the striker turns 18, on June 27.

Apart from FC Barcelona, Griffiths has also garnered interest from Bundesliga. According to ESPN, German club RB Leipzig is also monitoring the striker. Leipzig’s head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell, former held the same role at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham would want to tie down Griffiths by offering him a professional contract. He made his mark by his exploits at the U-18 level, and Tottenham wouldn’t want to lose the player with a minimal development compensation fee.

Barcelona’s interest in Griffiths is also seen as a response to Tottenham’s monitoring of Ricard Puig. Puig is a La Masia product, who joined Barcelona in 2013.

This season, Reo Griffiths has also represented Tottenham in the Under-19 UEFA Youth League, netting twice in three matches.
